Prospect's Studio C

Studio C is an award-winning, collaborative art centre that helps artists and aspiring creators to find inspiration and immersion within Calgary’s vibrant art community, while developing valuable employability skills.

Since 2005, we have hosted over 300 public art exhibitions and supported over 1,900 aspiring and practicing artists of all abilities and backgrounds to create, market, and sell their artwork.

More than an Arts Practice

Studio C is more than an arts practice. It fosters a vibrant community, unlocks opportunity, and challenges preconceptions. It provides a platform for individuals from equity-seeking groups to develop their skills and share their talents. And it enables the community to experience these talents in unexpected and impactful ways.

When perceptions are challenged, opportunities emerge.

Classes Building Skills and Realizing Potential

Helping people build artistic and employability skills through art classes and group projects.

Classes empower people to cultivate skills and uncover strengths, while exploring interesting and creative art mediums.

Collaborations Intersecting in Unexpected Ways

Bringing together people, organizations, businesses, and community through collaborative projects.

Collaborations foster differing perspectives and intersections that may not otherwise happen. They showcase strength and challenge perceptions through shared experience.

Exhibitions Celebrating Successes and Unique Showcases

Curating, hosting, and showcasing individual and group work through public exhibitions.

Exhibitions enable artists and collectives to share their journey and experiences in an impactful and public venue, fostering an inclusive, understanding community.

Team Building and Experiences Igniting Creativity and Possibility

Transforming teams by facilitating team building activities and unique engagement experiences.

These activities challenge perceptions and encourage collaboration, improving communication and fostering deeper connections.

About Prospect

Prospect is an innovative Alberta non-profit that helps people develop skills and get and keep good jobs. We also train employers, aiding them in recruiting and retaining good people, often from overlooked demographics. Using a variety of learning methods, including art and outdoors, we work with anyone who is looking for a better life through employment. We work with candidates who have degrees; we also work with people who are contending with a career transition, have a disability, experiencing a mental health challenge, or anyone along the employment continuum.

The link between art and employment?

We know that people don’t learn the same way. Traditional classrooms work well for some people, but not for everyone.

Art is a strength-based, empowering, positive, and motivating medium where people can be encouraged, and skills developed and showcased in a way that builds confidence and enables people to see their potential.

When you break down barriers to participation, reducing stigma and showcasing talents, you break barriers to employment.
