Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Showcase

It’s hard to take an idea and turn it into a business. Yet, for an entrepreneur, turning a dream into a business is in their blood. It’s as essential as breathing.

Entrepreneurs with disabilities have the same dream, but must also navigate physical, mental and societal limitations that would have others tell them their dream is impossible.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2023 , current and former participants in Prospect’s Entrepreneurs with Disabilities program (EDP) showcased their business ideas and solutions at a Showcase event organized by Prospect.

One such entrepreneur is Harlee Courtepatte, who served as the event’s keynote speaker. Through the guidance received from Prospect, Harlee was able to craft strategic and business plans, engage with mentors in his area of business, and put concrete actions into forward motion to launch his dream business, Agile, an Aboriginal-owned pioneer in cloud solutions based in the heart of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Attended by community partners, collaborators, peers and staff of the program, the event provided a networking opportunity to guests wanting to know more about participants’ businesses and Prospect’s EDP program.

Through the EDP program, Prospect has supported over 215 Edmonton-based entrepreneurs with disabilities turn dreams into reality since 2018. The program is available at no cost and is accessible to Edmonton and area residents who have a permanent disability or chronic condition, have struggled to get or keep employment because of that disability or condition and designed for those who have a viable business idea they’re passionate about and are ready, willing and motivated to start and run a business.
