Employee Spotlight: Congratulations, Jane Christensen!

Prospect is proud to announce that our very own Jane Christensen has been awarded the prestigious Margot Brunner Advocacy Award from the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities. In recognition of her commitment to service and her stellar work with Prospect clients, Jane was honored at the annual International Day for Persons with Disabilities Ceremony in the Alberta Legislature Rotunda ceremony, hosted by the Honourable Ric McIver, on Dec 3, 2025, where she received cheers and a standing ovation!

This special award, named after Margot Brunner, longtime advocate for the disability community, is presented to an individual who demonstrates leadership in advocacy for the rights of individuals with disabilities. The Premier's Council created this annual award to honour Ms. Brunner's passing in August 2023. The winner of this award demonstrates the characteristics and values of inclusion, equity and mentorship.

Jane Christensen is one of Prospect’s incredible art facilitators with the Pathways to Success program. Jane works out of our Calgary offices, where she delivers engaging, art-based lessons that develop our clients’ employability skills while creating an uplifting, inclusive environment for all participants. The majority of clients have successfully transitioned into employment, a direct result of the confidence, skill and community visibility they gain through the program.

During the ceremony, Jane was recognized as, “someone whose energy, creativity and care embody the spirit of inclusion…a natural motivator whose excitement is contagious, inspiring both clients and colleagues. Her work ensures participants are not only learning skills for success, but also experiencing visibility, belonging, and pride within their community.”

In her acceptance speech, Jane eloquently noted, “I want to thank my Prospect Human Services family, and I want to thank everyone I work with, but most importantly, everyone that I help support to be successful. It's a unique role and I'm always amazed by how much can get done.”   Jane also commented that receiving this award was, “the honor of my life and I could never say I did it alone. Everyone has taught me so much from the whole of PDD to Strathmore and every congratulations I’ve received I share with everyone else.”

Please join us in congratulating Jane Christensen! We are so proud to call you our colleague and honored to witness the incredible impact you are having on Prospect clients and their families each and every day!
