Forces@WORK: First Responders

BEYOND THE FRONT-LINE: BUILDING PATHWAYS TO POST-SERVICE CAREERS FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

Prospect’s Forces@WORK: First Responders program supports a First Responder’s successful transition from their established First Responder role to a post-service career path and life.

This work exposure program is specifically designed to address the unique and often challenging aspects of leaving the First Responder identity and commitment to public service behind. It leverages the invaluable skills and experiences of front-line service with the practical and tactical skills-based learning necessary to prepare for a rewarding next career.

Through a spectrum of career-related training and on-the-job work experiences, you will expand your identity beyond the uniform, build resiliency, build community with other transitioning First Responders, identify viable career options, address common transition challenges, and successfully transition into the workforce.

CHANGING CAREERS CAN BE STRESSFUL. WE MAKE IT EASIER.

Those who have charged into burning buildings or stood steadfast to defend the law or administered life-saving aid in a medical emergency are accustomed to working under pressure, functioning unwaveringly at the top of their game, no matter the chaos around them. Being a First Responder demands a relentless commitment to teamwork, trust and loyalty in your peers and your abilities, because everything you do could be the difference between life and death.

This is no 9 to five job. It’s a calling.

Leaving such a rewarding and fulfilling vocation, particularly if ill or injured, can be a time of high vulnerability. Feelings of being adrift and alone in a sea of uncertainty, loss of identity, fellowship, and income can present as insurmountable barriers. Finding support when your career has been to give it, is an essential first step in the transition journey.

For over ten years, Prospect has supported transitioning military personnel move beyond the battlefield to successful careers in industry. Our proven track record in career coaching and training, married with our deep understanding of the challenges, obstacles and opportunities of career transitions for those in uniform, gives us unique insight into the psychological, cultural and specific tools needed to transition successfully.

As with all our employment services, we begin with individual assessments of strengths, skills, training and goals. From there, we build a tailored service plan based on your individual needs.

Depending on your unique needs, your tailored service plan could include any or all of the following components:

  • Peer Support
  • Career Planning
  • Work Search
  • Resume Development
  • Interview Skills
  • Disclosure and Accommodation
  • Workplace Transition Support
  • Work Exposure at an Employer Jobsite
  • Employment Retention

YOUR SKILLS, OUR CONNECTIONS

You have marketable skills. We have an employer network that knows the benefit of First Responder experience and have a vision of how First Responders can enhance their business.
