Frequently Asked Questions

How is Prospect different from a recruitment agency?

Prospect is not a recruitment or employment agency. Job seekers are the focus of all our services. We give you the tools, information, and resources so that you can conduct an effective job search and realize employment success. We can be beside you, cheering you on throughout your career search journey.

While recruitment agencies serve employers by matching candidates to available job opportunities, Prospect offers resources, skill-building, hiring events, and work experience opportunities, to help you join the workforce.

How can Prospect help me?

At Prospect, we’re dedicated to helping Albertans find meaningful employment. Our services include:

  • Programs that help you build your workplace skills to reach your employment and educational potential.
  • Career planning support to help you determine your best career option based on your skills and today’s labour market requirements.
  • Job search assistance including help developing your resume, cover letter, interview skills and learning how to find job opportunities.
  • Support developing skills that will keep you employed long-term.

In addition, we have many connections to employers and regularly host events that connect job seekers with employers, and workshops that are free for anyone living in Alberta. To attend any of our events, check out our events page here.

Are there language proficiency requirements to access Prospect’s services?

Yes. To ensure effective communication and benefit fully from our services, individuals must be comfortable interacting independently in either English or French, without the need for a translator or interpreter. This proficiency enables us to provide the best possible support throughout your employment journey.

I’m a job seeker. Can you connect me with employers who are hiring in my area?

Prospect has connections with lots of employers and we have a good understanding of who is hiring and what industries are in high demand. We can help you shape your job search so that you realize success faster. We also host events with employers on a regular basis so that you can build your network and learn about available job opportunities.

Check out our events here.

While Prospect provides the tools and resources necessary for a successful job search, we do not maintain a job bank with available job opportunities . If you’re looking for a recruitment agency, please visit our Community Resources page.
