Congratulations to the Hatton family!

Prospect is pleased to congratulate Debbie, Brian and Alyssa Hatton for being the recipients of the Family Leadership Award at the PDD Provincial Community Leadership Awards.

These awards, held on September 13, 2011 in Leduc, recognize individuals, families and organizations for promoting the meaningful participation of people with developmental disabilities in Alberta communities. The Family Leadership Award recognizes a family who has demonstrated leadership in developing welcoming communities.

"The Hatton family has been involved with several community organizations such as the Special Olympics, International Law Enforcement Torch Run, Alberta Children’s Hospital and Rocky View School Division. The Hattons are involved in many high-profile events that showcase their daughter Alyssa’s talents as an athlete, artist, volunteer, spokesperson and advocate. Their work focuses on the successes of adults with developmental disabilities and sharing these with others, which gives the community positive examples of including people with disabilities. Through the dynamic and mutually beneficial relationships they develop, the Hatton Family is shifting people’s perceptions of adults with developmental disabilities in a positive way."
