Employment Placement Specialist
Prospect, one of Alberta’s most innovative and leading non-profits, is seeking skilled Employment Placement Specialists to join our supported employment team. You will have experience working with people with a broad range of disabilities including mental illness and developmental disabilities. Your approach to working with stakeholders and partners is highly innovative, creative, dynamic, collaborative, and outcomes focused.
Reporting to the Employment Placement Specialist, you will lead, develop and coordinate efforts that will result in a more fully integrated workforce in Calgary. You will work closely with employers to develop relationships, promote people with disabilities in the workforce, and build capacity to address issues facing the labour market and people with disabilities.
Primary Responsibilities
The following list details the primary functions that this role is accountable for and the elements Prospect uses to determine performance. It is not designed to detail every task which may be asked of you, and should not be interpreted as such.
• Market Prospect’s Employment Services and develop relationships with employers by: making cold calls, emailing potential employers, visiting potential employers and conducting informational meetings with employers
• Assess potential worksites for suitability through research centered around job availabilities and alignment with client skills, qualifications and goals
• Coordinate placement details with clients and other internal departments such as Case Managers and Job Coaches
• Coordinate placement details such as hours of work, wages and benefits between clients and employers
• Provide pre employment support such as: resume development, assistance in the application process and interview preparation for clients on a case by case basis
• Maintain accurate and up to date information in the PRIME database, weekly EPS tracking reports and client employment files
• Keep informed of current employment opportunities and labour market trends in Calgary through both methods provided by Prospect and methods which you develop yourself
• Follow up with existing employer contacts to gauge current success and future opportunities
• Deliver a set number of placements per month as per program requirements
• Represent Prospect at career fairs, trade shows and other events as required
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• Degree or certificate in a related field from a recognized post secondary institution and 2 to 3 years experience in a similar role (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
• Understanding of Calgary labour market, workforce initiatives
• Understanding of supported employment
• Sound knowledge of diversity, inclusion strategies, and people with disabilities
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Previous sales and/or marketing experience would be considered an asset
• Must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle
